Major General (Ret) Susan L. Pamerleau
Major General (Ret) Susan Lewellyn Pamerleau joined United Services Automobile Association (USAA) in January 2001 following retirement from the U.S. Air Force. As Vice President, Membership Development, she is responsible for planning/directing the military affairs and membership development programs for the Property & Casualty Insurance Group; increasing the military community’s awareness of USAA and its goal to strengthen the financial security of its members; and providing military affairs support to all USAA lines of business across the enterprise.
General Pamerleau concluded a thirty-two year career with the Air Force as a commander, planner and programmer, and human resources professional. She served as commander of the Air Force Personnel Center, the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, and an operational personnel organization; and as vice commander of the Air Force Military Personnel Center and the Air Force’s Basic Military Training School. In staff positions, she served at the US Air Force Headquarters as a programmer for training, strategic defense, and space operations basing, and personnel and training resources; at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Brussels, Belgium in political/military affairs; and for the last two years on active duty as the director of military and civilian personnel policy, including personnel strategic planning at US Air Force Headquarters. She has extensive experience in human resource management, planning and programming, and training and education.
General Pamerleau attended Phillips University for three years prior to earning a BA degree in Sociology from the University of Wyoming, a Masters degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University, and an honorary doctorate from Phillips University, Enid, Oklahoma. She attended multiple professional schools, including advanced executive courses at the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University and the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
General Pamerleau currently serves as a trustee with Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings, which is affiliated with the Air Force Association Aerospace Education Foundation, and on the Board of Trustees of the National City Christian Church Foundation and Phillips University. She is also a director for the Air Force Aid Society, USO of San Antonio, and the NBA Patriot Heights Retirement Community. Her community involvement has included serving on the San Antonio United Way Board of Directors and the Army-Air Force Mutual Aid Association. She resides in San Antonio, Texas.
