Ms. Beverly K. Mentzer received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1979. She was an active Angel Flight member while at LSU.
After graduating from LSU,Ms. Mentzer started work as a Research Engineer for the Exxon Production Research Company. From 1979-1982 she was a Research Engineer,where she provided technical services for Exxon affiliates,including development of a process simulator for facilities in the North Sea and cost control for the Prudhoe Bay Seawater Treating Plant. From 1982 to 1984,she was a Project Leader for numerous design group activities,including projects in the Gulf of Suez,Thailand,and Malaysia.
Ms. Mentzer then transferred to Exxon Company USA,where she held various engineering and supervision assignments from 1984 to 1989. In these positions,she was responsible for the group managing major construction projects and facilities surveillance,and provided engineering support for offshore platforms and a mechanical surveillance program in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1989,she became an Operations Superintendent for Exxon Company USA,where she managed the field organization responsible for daily operations at multiple sites in Florida and Alabama.
From 1991 to 1993,Ms. Mentzer was an Operations Technical Manager,for which she managed the organization responsible for geological,reservoir,and subsurface engineering support for Gulf of Mexico and other operations. She also managed the technical organization responsible for regulatory compliance and all engineering and geology for southeastern inland operations.
In 1993,Ms. Mentzer became a Planning Advisor,where she coordinated annual upstream planning,budgeting,stewardship,and investment reappraisal activities for U.S. business. Following that,she was the Business Development Manager for the Exxon Pipeline Company from 1994-1996. In that position,she managed the organization responsible for asset sales and acquisitions,development of new business activities,tariff filings,budgeting,long-range planning,and oversight of the Trans Alaska Pipeline and Lower 48 States joint interest pipelines. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for Exxon Pipeline Company and Plantation Pipe Line Company.
Ms. Mentzer was the Alaska Gas Commercialization Manager for Exxon Company USA from 1996-2000. In this position,she led a multifunctional team responsible for progressing the development of the Alaska North Slope gas reserves through fiscal and regulatory negotiations with the State of Alaska,discussions with Far East market representatives,and applications of new and developing technology.
In 2000,Ms. Mentzer moved to ExxonMobil (EM) International Limited in London to lead their United Kingdom Joint Interest Production business unit. She was responsible for oversight of all the technical,operational,commercial,financial and external relations aspects of this business,while working with a dozen different operating companies. She also served as EM’s representative to the UK Offshore Operators Association and chaired its Fiscal Policy Committee.
Ms. Mentzer returned to Houston,Texas with ExxonMobil Production Company in 2004 as Engineering Vice President. She had responsibility for ensuring functional excellence in the delivery of engineering work products and the career development processes for over 3000 engineers.
In 2006,Ms. Mentzer began her current position at ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company. She leads the Gas and Facilities Technology Division and is responsible for developing and commercializing new technology for surface facilities that help develop EM’s global oil and gas resources.
