National Commander Focuses

Squadron Development:
In order for Arnold Air Society to grow and develop as a national organization, we must develop the society at the lowest level, and build up from there. Squadron development means increasing squadron productivity in all operations, from community service to professional development. However, it is often difficult to start the process when resources are limited, and squadrons must have the right options to overcome these challenges. Publishing a squadron development guide that contains ideas and input from every squadron in the nation will be National Headquarters’ primary focus in the fall semester. This leaves time for squadrons to determine areas needing improvement, allowing them to make changes as they deem necessary in the spring.  By combining all of our experience, we can start the growth that will lead to the success of AAS as a whole.

Public Affairs:
Everything that we do in Arnold Air Society contains elements of service, professionalism, and excellence that exemplify the ideals and heart of the society. But we have a serious hindrance to the AAS mission if we do not promote the society or those qualities that we take away from it. Through an extension of public affairs, Arnold Air Society can expand into a more visible and even further renowned organization. Imagine our society known to the public, the active duty Air Force, and the entire military as THE symbol of high standards and excellence.  It is a vision that is completely possible to attain, and we can accomplish it through military connections, word of mouth, and extensive promotion.

Recruitment:
Membership is what drives Arnold Air Society—it is the society’s lifeblood and future. Membership and retention have always been a challenge to uphold, but fortunately a solution is available in the form of an AAS recruitment package. This compilation of various medium provided by National Headquarters will help guide squadrons in increasing their membership, and will include templates and examples of flyers, brochures, briefings, pictures, and videos.  Because many AFROTC detachments do not have initiated AAS squadrons, guidelines for establishing a squadron at a nearby university will also be included into the recruitment package.

Horizontal Communication:
We all know the importance of communication in a national organization like AAS. The vertical chain of command structure is necessary for efficiency, however horizontal communication is also critical for our mission success. A mutual collaboration of ideas among squadrons and areas needs to flow effortlessly in order to harness our true potential. Each squadron is strong with its own unique ideas and projects. When combined, the possibilities will be limitless.
